Day 1 – Transfer Journey to Mgahinga Park:
Begin as we pick you up at Kigali international Airport or your Hotel in Kigali Rwanda and transfer on a 3 hour journey to Mgahinga Gorilla Park, at the border crossing you will need an East African Visa that is obtainable from the first East African Country entry (Kenya-Rwanda – Uganda are participants in the East African community Visa Program). You will also need a Yellow Fever Certificate. Change your watches to one hour in front since Uganda is on East African Time.
Other ways of getting here: You can either fly in from Entebbe to Kisoro, or choose 8-9 hour drive to the park from Kampala or Entebbe. Include the Park on a longer safari including Uganda Rwanda combined Safari.
Lunch at your Lodge
From Kigali, you reach the lodge of your Choice inside or near the park by lunch time. If you choose to stay in a lodge along scenic Lake Mutanda you can take an afternoon dugout canoe ride, or use a power boat to visit one of its emerald Islands all in the shadows of the Virunga Volcanoes. If you stay near the park, you can take an afternoon hike in the park such as the Sabinyo Gorge Trail.

Day 2- Gorilla Trekking adventure day
Wake up for an early Breakfast – the right equipment and clothing for your Trek. We suggest a day pack, packed lunch provided by the lodge, at least two water litres, long trousers, long sleeved shirt, hat, boots, thick long socks and tough gardening gloves. All this is not for a fashion statement but your protection against nettles, thorns, brush,
Pick a walking Stick and follow your ranger guide after the gorilla trekking orientation and this is the best investment you can make on this day. Go on your Safe and Secure Gorilla Trek with Rangers and security escort to visit the popular Nyakagezi Family group. This is a 4 to 5-hour trek for most, it’s a one of a kind experience. Be sure to pack a sweater or jacket the temperature here at night can be as low as 10-degree Celsius or 50 degrees Fahrenheit.

Day 3 – Golden Monkey Trekking – Return to Kigali
Breakfast and you are off for your 2nd exciting adventure – Golden Monkey Trekking in the Bamboo Forests of the Volcanoes. There you normally encounter large troops of Golden Monkeys that are flitting about you, over you and near you. These naughty Golden Monkeys are also an endangered species only found in the Virunga Massif with Uganda having the largest population of them. Mgahinga Gorilla Park is the only park where you can trek them in Uganda.
This is a 3 to 4-hour activity and afterward, it is lunchtime at your lodge and then we continue the journey back to Kigali for your flight out. This activity can be changed to fit your flight out. A Rwanda city tour can be added if time permits.
